Christian Resource Expo

February 6, 2018 at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts – 201 Washington Street, Reading, PA 19601

3:00 pm – Joni & Friends: “Buddy Program” – The Buddy Program is a ministry that many churches find successful in welcoming those with disabilities into their congregations and encouraging their spiritual growth.

“Buddy ministry is about more than just making a church service a viable option for caregivers who never seem to get a break,” explains author Kate Brueck. “It is ultimately about making the life of your church accessible to all, and communicating how Christ and His kingdom accept all who come to Him in faith, regardless of their inherent abilities and disabilities.”

All of the books in the Irresistible Church series are free! These easy-to-read resources include links to downloadable tools such as worksheets for gauging needs and training modules for volunteers.

3:00 pm – Marlane Druckenmiller: “Does Your Church Need Hospice” – Does your congregation have less than 50 in worship?  Are you having trouble receiving enough donations to cover expenses? Does your pastor conduct more funerals than baptisms?  These are a few signs that your congregation may need a plan for treatment or coming to the end to its life cycle. Come to discuss a process of hospice care for congregations.

Ms Marlane Druckenmiller is a retired deacon of the ELCA. In over 40 yrs she served 7 congregations in NE PA in the areas of parish administration, youth ministry, and Christian education. She has lived through the lifecycle of conjugational church and brings first-hand insight to challenges that face congregations today.

6:00 pm – Carol Cool: “Finding Balance in the Circus of Life” – Life is a circus. You’ve got so many things going on, so many opportunities to choose from. Is it possible your life feels overwhelming because you’re in the wrong circus act? Identify which circus act you’re currently performing in and discover God’s desired place for you. Learn to make intentional choices that focus your life, allowing you to find joy and rest amidst the tension.
