Puerto Rico Earthquake Help
Reading Cares – Calling on our community to help Earthquake victims in Puerto Rico.
The Centro Hispano will be leading an Emergency Care Package Drive for earthquake victims in Puerto Rico. The Centro Hispano along with the #ReadingSchoolDistrict, PALO Magazine, RUMBA Reading and others like Breadth of Hope are collecting items for Care Packages beginning this Wednesday January 15th through Thursday January 23. Drop off site for donations will be at the Centro Hispano from 8am to noon and 1pm to 4pm daily.
We invite volunteers to join us Saturday January 25 as we put the care packages together in what we are calling “Reading Cares Day” at the Centro Hispano. The plan is to deliver the Care packages to Puerto Rico on Monday January 27.
To make sure donations get to the victims most in need Dr. Yamil Sanchez and Rosa Julia Parra, Board members of the Centro Hispano and Jose “Chamo King” Parra Andrade of Rumba Reading will be heading to Puerto Rico on this humanitarian effort to distribute the Reading Care Packages to the families most in need on the island.
We are asking the Greater Reading Community to support our efforts by donating travel size items for our care packages. Even the smallest donation will make an immediate impact! The wish list items are:
First aid kits
Shampoo and conditioner
Flashlights and batteries
Ensure and Pedialyte
New Freezer Gallon size Bag (New/unopened)
Cell Phone chargers
Only new items are requested please.
