I bet many of you remember the expression, “having to find yourself.”  I surely remember it, like I lost myself or something. I found this expression so silly at the time.  What were people looking for?

People needed to travel, go away from their homes, and their families just to “find themselves.”  I ask again, what were they looking for?

Maybe these seekers needed a confirmation of belonging.  Maybe this expression was used to leave the situation that they were in, or maybe just maybe these seekers were lost.

The Word says…..

Matthew 16:2 (ESV)

25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Today in our society we spend a great deal of money just to gather information about ourselves.  What are our ancestral roots?

Now I am not saying that there is anything wrong with this.  It is interesting to know who and where we have come from.  It is sketching out our family tree.  Heritage is important.  The Bible clearly speaks on family.

I have crossed a point in my life where I only want to know that I have come from Father God and through His Son Jesus, I am going back to the Father. Who am I?  I am a daughter of the King.  That is my heritage.

I believe that I am different from some. My interest lies in coming forth from Jesus.  How about you?

We cannot be so caught up in “finding ourselves” outside of Jesus. He said that if our lives are so important to us we will lose our life, death will come.  When we lose our life to Him, become His….we will live forever with Him.

We are relational beings and Jesus died for us just so that we can be called family.  No need to “find yourself” you were never lost.  Jesus knew exactly where you were.  JustAsk.

I remain in peace to love and serve,
