Do you remember the expression, “Pick your battles?”  I heard this expression more so when my children were younger.

I was blessed to be a stay at home mom, so I had to choose what to “fight” and what to stay quiet about. This was not always easy, sometimes I had to keep silent in the midst of a situation where my flesh wanted to jump up and take control.

Well, I find myself battling that same situation today.  The only difference is that it is not my children now.  I still want to jump up but I know that the Lord has a tight governor on me and He only wants me involved in the “battles” that He has equipped me for.

His word says….

2 Chronicles 20:15 (ESV)

15 And he said, “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s.

I see many current event stories and time from time I watch news programs that will fill one with dismay and sorrow.  I must admit that I do get my “thumper” foot on.

There are times that I cannot say anything.  I am at a loss for words.  I reach up – I say Father – I shake my head – I bow down – I cannot speak.  This type of battle is the Lord’s.

I am not to fight something that He has already conquered.  I am however to seek His face and ask what can I do to serve you Lord in this situation?

I acknowledge His love and protection over us and only go if He says go and only speak if He says speak.  If I am not to move out then I stay and pray, intercede, and praise His most Holy Name….for the battle has been won.  The battle is God’s.

This is how I fight my battles now…..I sing, praise, and worship….send in the worshippers first then the army follows.

2 Chronicles 20:21 (ESV)

21 And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, and say,

“Give thanks to the Lord,
for his steadfast love endures forever.”

Can you just imagine that sight?  The enemy is watching and waiting then all of a sudden you come out singing and praising our Lord. You are not giving into chaos that is swirling around you.  You instead have picked your battles and given them over to Jesus.

It is in this moment that we decree and declare in the name of Jesus that He is Lord and that He is Master over all creation and that He has won ALL battles.  Let us always remember to be responsive not reactive.  We have to know where and who we are called to.  To whom do you carry the message of our Lord?  JustAsk

This is how I will fight my battles, in the presence of the Lord.  AMEN

I remain in His peace to love and serve,
