Description: Seven names of god in judaism, Seven names of God in Christianism

I have just opened up a huge question.  Many people have their own explanation as to who God is.  Many people will speak on His virtues and attributes but not be able to say who HE is….completely.  Why?  Because there are no human words to describe our Everlasting King.

The word says that man does not know the things of God.

1 Corinthians 2:11 (NKJV)

11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

I can just imagine what confusion entered into Peter’s head when Jesus asked him, “Who do you say I AM.”  (Mark 8:29)

Peter spoke out Messiah, Savior.  That is what Jesus came to earth to do…..He is our Savior, our Messiah.  That is what He did but does this fully describe who Jesus is?

The Holy Spirit speaks in many different ways to many people.  Often times He speaks to me in a question.  Once, while pondering before Him, He asked, “What name do you call Me?”

I am still in that question.  There is not one name, there is not one virtue or feature that can fully describe who God the Father is. No not one.

I have been reading God’s Pursuit of Man by A.W. Tozer. Wow, now this book is not a light read.  I am so drawn to read, seek out, question, and absorb all that is written.  I go to our Father with questions, asking for the deeper things of our Lord.

Tozer speaks on not being able to speak on who God fully is. We cannot with our limited mind structure and understanding comprehend all that He is.  Just can’t be done.

I do believe this to be true. We will speak of Him as Power, Majesty, Love, Joy, Glory, Goodness, Healer, Father, Savior, Light, Fire, Redeemer, Counselor, Righteous Judge, and many many more virtues, attributes and possessions. BUT do these descriptions accurately describe God?  Tell you who He is? He is not one, He is all in all.

Even Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:1-4, says that he could not even speak on the things he heard while caught up in the third heaven.  Are there no earthly words to describe his visit?

Yes we all have so much more to learn.  So much more to be a part of.  As born again believers in Jesus Christ we know that one day God will reveal Himself to us in His fullness and “oh what a day that will be!”  AMEN

Today we know of our God but someday we will KNOW GOD. JustAsk

I remain in His peace to love and serve,
